The Joymakers

The Joymakers
The Joymakers Choir brings laughter and delight to all ages, including nursing home residents. The Joymakers are made up of more than 40 people from the First Southern Baptist Church in San Diego, California. Some of the members have been singing with the choir for all of its 30-year history. Paul Plunk, minister of music at Del Cerro, directs the choir and sometimes appears as Elvis in the programs they present. Other choir members perform as the Beetles, Dale Evans and Roy Rogers, F.D.R. and Johnny Carson. Programs by the choir usually last an hour and thirty minutes, featuring music from the 30s to the 90s, and ending with a variety of gospel music. The music is interspersed with skits and monologues that bring laughter, applause and sometimes tears to the audiences.
