Sharing the joy of reading.
Grandmother Joanne M. reads to Brendan, her intently interested grandson.

Alma & Henrietta
of Missouri

Imagine the joy of great-great grandmother Alma as she holds her fifth-generation offspring, baby Ashlyn. Behind her is great-grandmother Henrietta, who lives in Missouri; then Ashlyn's mom, Trish, who lives in Kansas. And on the right, the very proud grandfather, James. James hails from Kansas also. And this is what Grandparents Day is all about--sharing love and tradition, generation after generation.

of Louisiana

Five generations of a fine family! Great-great Grandma Meche lives in Louisiana and has 11 great-great grandchildren. Great Grandpa Malcolm has six grandchildren. Grandmother Gretchen also lives in Louisiana. Mother Emily and son Matthew live in Idaho. "Hello!" from their family to yours!

"Happiness is being a grandma." So says Grandmother Barbara, shown here holding her granddaughter, Spencer. To her left is granddaughter Sierra, age 6. Completing the picture are Sierra's and Spencer's mom, Melissa, and great-grandmother, Joyce. Aren't their smiles contagious?! When asked where they live, they'll tell you "Wild, Wonderful West Virginia. Y'all come see us when you can!"

Grandmother of the Year
State of Arkansas

May we introduce great-great-Granny Pearl, age 106 (!), shown holding great-great-grandchild, Karli. Granny Pearl lives in Arkansas, and is pictured here with some of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Front Row: Kelsey, Laura, Granny with Karli, Lindsey, Katie, and Patsy Marie holding Weston.
Back Row: Donna, Chris, Justin, Jason, and Mark holding Macy.

Hugh and Alice of Montana

Hugh and Alice grew up together in a homestead town called Sumatra in Montana. They still live there to this day. It wasn't until the 1960s, however, that they met and were married. This proves that love can last a lifetime. Hugh and Alice take many cross-state trips with their grandchildren, and visit such places as Billings.

James and Georgia Mitchell

Left to right: Virginia, Chris, Georgia, James, Mark holding Bo. Mark, Chris, and Bo are Virginia's sons. Mark and Chris graduated from high school in 2000. October 1, James and Georgia celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. It was wonderful for them to open the Owensboro, Kentucky newspaper on their anniversary and found they had the honor of being selected as Kentucky's Grandparents of the Year.
