Founder's Heir Debuts

as Carrier of Legacy:

West Virginian Takes Grandparents Day

Message to the Country

On September 10, two days before National Grandparents Day, Lailah Salimi will follow the path of her grandmother, Marian H. McQuade, the West Virginia housewife who founded the observance 20 years ago.

For this 17 year-old from Princeton, West Virginia, the speech she will deliver that day to a group of school-aged children and residents of Outlook Pointe at Creekview in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, is especially significant. It marks her national debut as caretaker of a family's legacy -- the first time that she's stepped in for her grandmother as the official voice for
National Grandparents Day.

Lailah will travel to Outlook Pointe, an assisted living community at 1100 Grandon Way, Mechanicsburg, at the invitation of its community direcor, Crystal Stair. Stair wanted to honor residents on Grandparents Day
and give them a chance to form relationships with young people in the surrounding neighborhoods.
(Outlook Pointe is one of 70+ balanced care facilities in five states.)
